At least there is one reason to visit Sheregesh. It’s the unique dry powder starting from November. The second reason is to feel the famous Siberian frost.
Don’t expect comfortable conditions here. Lifts are old and were installed without any plan. There is no single ski-pass for the whole area. Lack of après ski. You will definitely need knowledge of Russian. It is hard to find people who understand English.
If you manage to overcome these difficulties you’ll find amazing forest areas with a lot of snow not far from lifts. Also, you can take a snowmobile to reach some remote areas.
Zone #1. The wood between the Panorama lift (#4) and the Rijaya lift (#6)
Access: the nearest lifts are the Panorama chairlift and the Rijaya “Skyway” cable car. Also, you can use any lifts, which lead to the top of Zelenaya mountain.
Route description: save and quite easy skiing through the Siberian woods. The area has a long gentle slope at the bottom, with a slight incline to the Rijaya cable car, so you have to bear right to reach the Panorama chairlift. Otherwise, make a traverse to the left toward Rijaya. Even if you miss the turn you’ll reach the road that leads to the Rijaya lift.
Zone #2. The wood between the Panorama slope and the Panorama lift
Access: from the top of the Panorama chairlift.
Route description: the forest area between several runs of the Panorama slope. Take the run at the bottom to reach the Panorama lift.
Zone#3 The wood between the Rijaya cable car and the Sector A main slope.
Access: from the top of the Rijaya cable car, the Kaskad chairlift or the Freestyle chairlift.
Route description: the forest area between the Rijaya cable car and the Kaskad (#11) chairlift. Also, there is a run under the Freestyle chairlift in the middle of this area (lift is not shown on the picture).
Zone#4 The area between the Sector A main slope and the Kaskad slope.
Access: the nearest lift is the Kaskad (#15) chairlift.
Route description: an area between slopes.
